DAY CURLERS
General Information
The Day Curlers’ League is a day time, friendly, open, senior league that meets at least twice a week to curl and is primarily attended by, but not restricted to, retired men and women age 50 and above who prefer the “Tag Draw” curling format as well as regular special events.
The Day Curlers’ mandate is to provide a balanced curling program between social, recreational and competitive curling activities as well as satisfying the wide diversity of age and physical ability of its members. Fun, fellowship, and exercise are our main objectives.
Primary Activities
Tag Curling
Arrive and play a “Tag Draw” format with different members. This is recreational curling at its best.
“Tag Draw” Curling is at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesdays and, 9:45 A.M. on Thursdays and begins on Tuesday, October 6, 2020. Submit your name tag at the time/day of arrival indicating your preferred team position. Teams will be created for that day by the Draw Master giving preference to your position request to the extent possible.
Social days, with snacks provided, usually occur on the 2nd Tuesday of every month (date is confirmed the week prior).
Additional Activities
Monday Competitive Team Curling
Sign up INDIVIDUALLY to participate in each of 4 separate Draws, with all games (typically 5 or 6 per Draw) starting at 10:00 AM on Mondays commencing October 19, 2020.
An email sign-up for Draw 1 will be sent out in September to all registered Day Curlers. For Draws 2, 3 and 4, a paper sign-up sheet will be posted on the Day Curlers board for Draws 2, 3 and 4 on the date of the first game of each of Draws 1, 2 and 3 respectively.
Teams are selected from those players who signed up, on a "first signed-up - first in" basis. The number of Teams in a Draw will be based on the number of players signed up to create an even number of full 4 person teams (e.g. 6, 8 or 10 teams), and who are also available to play 8 end games. Individuals can sign up to be a spare for each Draw as well.
Teams for each Draw are selected via a "Skips" meeting which will occur approximately 1 week in advance of the Monday start of that Draw.
Social days, with snacks provided, and prize money distribution will occur on the last Monday of each Draw.
